PORTSMOUTH, N.H.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 1, 2000--Pan American Airways today began scheduled passenger service with Bangor, Maine. Flights with Sanford/Orlando, Florida and Portsmouth, NH began with a 9:40AM on-time departure.
Dave Fink, Pan Am's President said, ``Flight 81's wheels up this morning was good news for Pan Am and Bangor. By providing service to this region we are expanding our market and filling seats, but more importantly, this service is providing Bangor with a critical business connection to central New England, as well as a terrific option for the Orlando leisure travelers.''
Scheduled service with Bangor will be as follows:
Portsmouth to Bangor: Departs Portsmouth at 8:20AM and arrives at Bangor at 9:10AM; second flight will depart Portsmouth at 4:30PM and arrive in Bangor at 5:20PM.
Bangor service with Sanford/Orlando: Departs Bangor at 9:40AM and arrives at Sanford/Orlando at 1:40PM. Return service will depart Sanford/Orlando at 1:20PM and arrive at Bangor at 5:20PM.
About Pittsburgh and Boston Service:
Adding to Pan Am's celebration today was the announcement of Pan Am's service to Pittsburgh, PA from Bangor, as well as Bangor to Boston service through Portsmouth, NH. The Pittsburgh service will begin on May 1, 2000. Pan Am's reservation system will begin to accept Pittsburgh bookings on March 8, 2000.
Bangor service with Pittsburgh: Departs Bangor at 7:30AM and arrives in Pittsburgh at 9:30AM. Return Service will depart Pittsburgh at 6:40PM and Arrive in Bangor at 8:40AM.
About the Boston Clipper Connection:
In order to connect Bangor passengers with Boston, Pan Am will fly passengers to Portsmouth and provide express motor coach service to Boston's South Station and Logan Airport. Pan Am's Boston Clipper Connection will be priced at $49 and will have an approximate 2-hour travel time. Passengers will travel by 727 Clipper Class aircraft to Portsmouth and travel by scheduled motor coach service with C&J Trailways to Boston. A similar return connection from Boston to Bangor is also scheduled.
Fink added, ``We think the Boston connection makes a lot of sense. The two-hour travel time, while avoiding Logan, for $49 should provide business travelers a fantastic option.
